Bristol's most famous landmark is hailed across the world as an engineering marvel. Each year, tourists from around the UK, and globe, descend on our city to view Brunel’s Clifton Suspension Bridge.
The attraction enjoys a four-and-a-half star rating on TripAdvisor, but not all visitors were impressed. One reviewer left a scathing write-up claiming the bridge was 'too old'.
They wrote: "I would say it is too old and too expensive and needs to be replaced. I for one am fed up with this love affair of old stuff that always needs maintaining , add to the fact that it is close when there is a main attraction on at Ashton Park because it is too old for traffic and walkers at the same time."

But there were, of course, lots of positive reviews about Bristol's most-loved tourist destination. As well as the bridge, tourists can now explore 'secret' vaults hidden below the iconic structures. The underground spaces were designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. For decades experts believed the foundations of the bridge were solid. But in 2002, secret vaults were discovered lying hidden under Leigh Woods. Tours of the vaults can be booked between Easter and October.
One person wrote: "The Clifton Bridge is an amazing feat of engineering and such a beautiful bridge, so to get to go on a tour of the vaults really highlighted that. It was fascinating to be inside the bridge, especially because the vaults were only discovered within the last 20 years. The two volunteer tour guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. They gave us lots of information and were very good humoured, The vaults really are spectacular and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit."
Another said: "A spectacular feat of engineering. There are some great views from up at the Observatory and also over at the hotel. You can walk across the bridge. It costs £1 to drive over. The small (fee) information centre is worth a visit."
A third said: "A must-see if you're ever in Bristol, you could spend hours admiring the scenery. There is a lot to do in the area. The observatory is nearby, and there is a tunnel leading to the balcony in the middle of the cliff. The Clifton neighbourhood has many authentic restaurants. A nice place to spend some time and have a meal at one of the restaurants."
