The 2024 Tour de France gets underway today, with Tadej Pogacar the strong favourite to claim victory for a third time.
Italy will host the Grand Depart for the first time as riders set out from Florence to Rimini on the Adriatic coast.
The next two stages, through the iconic racetrack Imola then the cities of Bologna and Turin, then give way to the traditional mountain climbs across the Alps as the Tour heads into France for the bulk of the 21 stages.
Heading north to Troyes, the route then swings through the Massif Central and Pyrenees mountains.
A final dart around the Alps will lead to the first-ever finish outside of Paris, due to the summer Olympics, as Nice takes centre stage instead of the Champs Elysees for the crowning of the winner.
Tour de France 2024 start time
The Grand Depart will get underway at 11am BST on Saturday, July 29, 2024. Each stage’s start time through the race will vary slightly.
