Stormy conditions swept Cork on Sunday, with many areas experiencing heavy flooding as a result.
While the worst of the rain may seem to have cleared for the moment, more is on the way later in the week.
Two yellow status weather warnings for wind and rain were issued for the county and city of Cork on Sunday.

Cork City Fire Brigade, crews from the Council and other frontline responders attended to flooded areas, with reports that blocked drains and culverts added to the problems.
In Ballincurrig, 55.2mm was recorded by 10:30pm last night, data from Met Eireann shows. Other areas such as Midleton had 42.7mm, while Ballinamult recorded 39.6mm. This is compared to 8mm for the same period in Dublin’s Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin, or 19.8mm in Churchtown.

One area in Cork that was hit hard by the torrential rain was Blackpool. Flooding Ireland, an information and advice service that covers rivers and coasts around the country, said that water levels on the Bride River in the area exceeded records.
They posted on Twitter: “There are 8 years of records available for this gauge. There is severe flooding underway in Blackpool.”
The river did not flood, despite these high levels.
Residents in Blackpool were concerned about blocked drains on streets, which contributed to the heavy floods.
While local reports say that the worst has passed for the moment and roads are clearing up, there appears to be more on the way during the week. Met Eireann has said that the week is looking to be “fairly unsettled with frequent spells of rain”.

Cork Beo has reported a lot of rain run-off flowing into the harbour this morning, as well as some roads still affected by surface water. Monaghan Road in the city centre, for example, has clear paths but the road is flooded.
