Tottenham XI vs Newcastle: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Carabao Cup today

Potential rest: Mohammed Kudus - (London Standard)

Thomas Frank has made four changes to his Tottenham team for tonight’s Carabao Cup trip to Newcastle.

It is the fourth game of a busy run for Spurs, with fixtures in midweek all the way through to the international break.

The competition represents one of Spurs' best chances of winning silverware this season, and so Frank will be tempted to go all out, even with a home match against Chelsea to come this weekend.

Cristian Romero and Destiny Udogie are not fit to start in the back line, so Frank is short of defensive depth.

The Spurs boss said that both defenders were “on the [training pitch]”, but with “no timeframe” on potential returns to action.

Micky Van de Ven will take a deserved rest, starting on the bench as Kevin Danso takes a starting berth.

Pedro Porro would have been hoping for a rest but, amid reports of a significant injury to Archie Gray, he is needed again at full-back.

Joao Palhinha and Pape Matar Sarr start as holding midfielders, while Xavi Simons shifts out wide with Lucas Bergvall playing in the No10 role.

In attack, Randal Kolo Muani impressed in his hour against Everton on Sunday but does not start again in the north-east - Richarlison picks up the mantle.

Dominic Solanke is still ruled out with an ankle injury, although Frank confirmed that the England striker was making “steps forward, tak[ing] it step by step."

Tottenham XI: Kinsky; Porro, Danso, Palhinha, Spence; Bentancur, Sarr; Johnson, Bergvall, Xavi; Richarlison

Subs: Austin, Gunter, Tel, Kudus, Van de Ven, Kolo Muani, Scarlett, Olusesi, Rowswell

Injured: Gray, Romero, Udogie, Davies, Takai, Dragusin, Maddison, Kulusevski, Bissouma, Solanke

Time and date: 8pm GMT on Wednesday October 29, 2025

Venue: St James' Park, Newcastle

How to watch: Sky Sports, ITV
