Tottenham fell to a second consecutive pre-season defeat to Bayern Munich on Saturday.
Spurs had actually made a dream start to the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, taking a quick-fire lead through Dejan Kulusevski’s wonderfully improvised finish within the opening 30 seconds.
Still, after a strong start, Bayern developed a foothold and had wasted some good chances by the time Dayot Upamecano levelled the scores, forcing the ball over the line after Spurs struggled to defend a defensive set-piece again.
Serge Gnabry then punished Spurs for some lax defending to hand the German giants a quick-fire lead, before Thomas Muller nodded in a third following another free-kick the hosts had failed to clear.
Kulusevski did bag his brace in the second-half thanks to Lucas Bergvall’s cute pass but the home side could not muster a third. Harry Kane and Eric Dier returned to bid a proper farewell to supporters, though neither got on the scoresheet.
Spurs begin their Premier League campaign away at Leicester on Monday 19 August.
