Tottenham v Liverpool Player Ratings: Carabao Cup semi first leg

Tottenham take a narrow lead to Anfield after beating Liverpool 1-0 in their Carabao Cup semi-final first leg – and you can find SportsCasting’s player ratings for both sides below.

Tottenham Player Ratings (4-3-3)

Antonin Kinsky – 7.5

Thrown in on his debut and looked great with his distribution. Solid showing for Spurs’ new signing.

Pedro Porro – 6

Spurned one of the game’s best chances just before the hour-mark. Really should’ve done better.

Radu Dragusin – 6

Few shaky moments from the Romanian at the back. Managed to pull off a brilliant goal-line clearance from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s shot.

Archie Gray – 6

An 18-year-old midfielder playing at centre back and looking assured on his left side as a right-footer. Did well to keep Mo Salah quiet for large parts of the game.

Djed Spence – 6.5

Red Djed’s Redemption is in full swing and did well to fill in for the injured Destiny Udogie at left-back. Helped keep Salah quiet alongside Gray on his side.

Rodrigo Bentancur – 6

Another unfortunate injury for Tottenham. Bentancur was taken off on a stretcher after a nasty injury and is being checked over in hospital.

Yves Bissouma – 7

One of his better performances in a three-man midfield for Tottenham. Broke the lines and held his own in the middle of the park.

Lucas Bergvall – 8

What a time to score your first Tottenham goal! The 18-year-old pressed brilliantly and almost set up Porro to score after harassing Alisson on the ball. Was lucky to escape a red card after a clumsy challenge while on a yellow before scoring the winner just moments later.

Dejan Kulusevski – 6.5

Spurs’ best player this season but struggled to impose himself after dropping back into a wide midfield position after Bentancur’s injury.

Dominic Solanke – 7.5

Lead the line brilliantly for Spurs and was desperately unlucky to see his goal in the 78th minute ruled out by VAR for offside. Then set up Bergvall’s winner late on.

Son Heung-min – 5.5

Relatively anonymous out on the left wing. Few bright moments but nothing to change the game. Was substituted for Timo Werner in the 73rd minute.

Manager: Ange Postecoglou – 7

Set up his side well against England’s best team at the moment. Held their own and deserved the first leg victory.

Substitutes

Brennan Johnson – 6 (for Bentancur 15′)

Timo Werner – 6 (for Son 72′)

Liverpool Player Ratings (4-2-3-1)

Alisson – 6

Was lucky not to concede just before the hour mark after being robbed of the ball by Bergvall. Not troubled too much apart from that and Bergvall’s goal.

Conor Bradley – 6

Kept Son quiet for large parts of the game. One of Liverpool’s best performers before being subbed off for Alexander-Arnold.

Jarell Quansah – 6

Replaced on the half-hour mark due to injury. Endo came on in his place.

Virgil Van Dijk – 6.5

Made a brilliant block to deny Porro a goal with Alisson out of position. Then put the Spaniard off with his follow-up.

Konstantinos Tsimikas – 6

No clean sheet for the Greek international but still performed well at left-back.

Ryan Gravenberch – 6

Kept things ticking over in midfield but found himself outnumbered at times due to Spurs overcrowding the midfield.

Alexis Mac Allister – 6

Not his best performance in a Reds shirt. Will be hoping to improve when the two sides meet in the second leg.

Mohamed Salah – 5

A night to forget for Mo Salah. Like Son, Spurs’ best player, Liverpool‘s talisman struggled to make an impact in north London.

Curtis Jones – 5.5

Played in the No 10 position but struggled to create clear-cut chances for Diogo Jota up top.

Cody Gakpo – 6

Created issues for Pedro Porro down the right but failed to make any meaningful impact.

Diogo Jota – 6

Struggled against a depleted Spurs backline but wasn’t given the service to make his mark. Subbed off on the hour mark.

Manager: Arne Slot – 6

A second defeat in all competitions for Liverpool this season. Arne Slot won’t be worrying to much going into the second leg with it all still to play for.

Substitutes

Wataru Endo – 6 (for Quansah 30′)

Trent Alexander-Arnold – 6.5 (for Bradley 60′)

Darwin Nunez – 6 (for Jota 60′)

Luiz Diaz – 6 (for Gakpo 60′)

Ibrahima Konate – 6 (for Mac Allister 80′)
