Tottenham urged to target 'brilliant' Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou

Jamie O'Hara has urged his former club Tottenham to appoint Ange Postecoglou as manager in the summer.

The former Premier League midfielder, now pundit, reckons "brilliant" Postecoglou would jump at the chance to manage Tottenham.

O'Hara, speaking to Grosvenor Sport, hailed Celtic as a "huge football club" but insists there is "no way in a million years" he would knock back an approach from Spurs.

Ryan Mason is currently interim boss at the Premier League club with Daniel Levy hunting for a new permanent boss with Julian Nagelsmann and Mauricio Pochettino out of the running.

“Tottenham should go after Postecoglu in the summer," said O'Hara. “He’s brilliant and Tottenham are a huge football club.

"If he got offered the job there is no way he is turning it down – how could you?

“If he had the opportunity to manage Tottenham in the Europa League or Europa Conference League, or manage Celtic in the Champions League, you’re taking Tottenham.

"Celtic will get pumped in the Champions League and will be out in the group stages, then they’ll walk the league.

"Celtic are a huge football club but for Postecoglou’s career, there is no way in a million years he would turn Spurs down.”

However, Open Goal host and former Celtic youngster Simon Ferry ruled out a move to Tottenham as he backed the club for an improved showing in the Champions League next season.

He commented: "He’s staying at Celtic. I’ll bet you now that they will not get pumped in the Champions League.”

Fellow Open Goal pundit Paul Slane conceded Postecoglou could move down south in the future.

“I think it depends on what he wants to do as a manager," he said.

"If he wants to go up against Pep Guardiola and those types of names, I think he will want to go down there.

"It’s difficult in the Scottish league to stand out.”
