Tottenham have shown their ambition to push on with early summer transfer business, bringing in Ivan Perisic, Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Fraser Forster and Djed Spence, while Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet has joined on a season-long loan.
With Spurs back in the Champions League, boss Antonio Conte recognised the need for more players to keep them competitive on multiple fronts in the 2022-23 campaign.
But the Italian has not quite finished his business just yet as he looks to put the finishing touches to his squad. Mirror Sport has rounded up the latest transfer news, rumours and gossip all below.
Conte still hot on Traore
Football journalist Dean Jones has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur still want to sign Adama Traore from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer. The 26-year-old Spaniard spent the second half of last season on loan at Barcelona after snubbing Tottenham and Conte, who fancied the ace as a wing-back.
Traore started well back in Spain, where he used to play, but a return of zero goals and four assists wasn’t enough to convince Xavi to sign him on a £29million permanent deal.
Traore is now back at Wolves ahead of the start of the new season but is available for transfer as he has just one year left on his contract. Spurs have long been linked with a move for Traore, and that interest still remains, claims Jones.
Chelsea emerge as transfer rivals for ace
Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea are willing to pay €50 million (£42 million) for Tottenham Hotspur target Milan Skriniar to sign him from Inter Milan in the summer transfer window, according to CM.
CM have reported that Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain both are ready to pay £42m for the 27-year-old Slovakia international central defender, who Inter value at £59m.
The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that Chelsea held a meeting with market intermediary Paolo Busardo in London over Skriniar this week. Chelsea’s willingness to pay big for Skriniar will come as a blow for their London and Premier League rivals Tottenham, who have also been linked with Skriniar.
Zaniolo update
Tuttojuve and Sport Witness have provided an interesting update on Roma’s Italian midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo , who has been linked with Spurs.
Journalist Daniele Micele claims that Zaniolo seems to be ‘oriented towards staying’ at Roma this season where both his teammates and Jose Mourinho have asked him to continue.
Juventus are also interested in the ace but the reporter pointed out that ‘the only team that can break the balance are Tottenham’. Spurs seem to be the only club with ‘the financial means to reach the €50m (£42.5m) request’ made by the Serie A side.
