Tottenham told clever £50m transfer will stop Harry Kane from leaving amid contract dilemma

Daniel Levy has been told how to tie Harry Kane down to a new deal at Tottenham. The 29-year-old faces an increasingly uncertain future in north London after entering the final 18 months of his contract.

As Kane continues to impress for club and country, a number of top European sides are said to be monitoring his situation. The England and Spurs captain almost joined Manchester City in the summer but, after a switch failed to materialise, Pep Guardiola's side set their sights on Erling Haaland instead.

Plenty of Tottenham supporters are desperate to see Kane commit his long-term future to the club but he's already admitted that there's not been much talks of a new contract. He did, though, concede that he expects there will soon be conversations.

"There's not been much talk if I'm totally honest," said Kane in January, after Tottenham clinched a 1-0 win over Fulham in the FA Cup. "There's still a lot to play for, trying to get in the Champions League, we have the FA Cup and the Champions League still to try to win.

"My focus is on that. I know there's going to be rumours, a lot of talk and speculation about my future but I'm just focused on what I can do."

With Tottenham now out of the FA Cup, the north Londoners have just the Champions league to challenge for this term. But, Kane insisted that winning silverware for the Lilywhites is a long-term goal of his.

"Of course, I still want to win trophies for Tottenham Hotspur," the all-time Tottenham top goal scorer added. "That's been my goal since I started playing first team football with them. It hasn't happened.

"I've been open about [how I feel about] that but I'll continue to try to achieve that. We have a really good squad, a fantastic manager and there's no reason why we still can't be successful this season. We've just got to put everything we can into it and see where we are come May or June."

In the event that Kane does lean towards an exit from N17, Tottenham have been told that signing James Ward-Prowse would be enough to encourage the striker to stay. Speaking on talkSPORT, Darren Ambrose said: "I’d take him at Spurs for £50million.

"I think he’s the perfect player that Spurs need that goes from defence to attack. And he can be that link to the play and I think you’ve got the players that will do the dirty work – the dog work – in terms of [Pierre-Emile] Hojbjerg and [Oliver] Skipp and players like that.

"I think he’s fantastic. Listen, you sign James Ward-Prowse, Harry Kane stays. That’s an extra ten goals a season for him with his deliveries."
