Tottenham to face Sheffield United in FA Cup fifth round after non-league Wrexham lose dramatic replay

Tottenham will travel to face Sheffield United in the FA Cup fifth round, after non-league Wrexham fell just short in their replay despite another superb performance.

The National League side were seconds away from pulling off a stunning win when they first played Sheffield United last month, only to concede deep into stoppage-time in front of their home fans.

With the fifth-round draw already taking place, Spurs knew they would be playing the winners of the replay and that is the Blades, after they beat Wrexham 3-1 at Bramall Lane.

Having fallen behind, Wrexham levelled through a penalty from Paul Mullin before the striker was then given another chance from the spot, this time to put his side in front. That spot-kick was saved though, and the hosts continued their FA Cup run as Billy Sharp and Sander Berge netted in added-time to leave Wrexham heartbroken.

Sheffield United are enjoying a fine season in the Championship are are well-placed to secure a return to the Premier League. They sit second in the table behind Burnley, ten points clear of Middlesbrough in third with a game in hand.

Tottenham will make the journey to Sheffield on March 1, with the fifth round taking place in midweek. That match will take place three days after Antonio Conte’s side host Chelsea in the Premier League, and ahead of a trip to Wolves.
