Tottenham target Alessandro Bastoni breaks silence on future as Man United and Chelsea join race

Transfer target Alessandro Bastoni insists he is focusing on Inter Milan and the Italy national team amid interest from Tottenham, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Spurs head coach Antonio Conte has made Bastoni a key summer target as he looks to bolster his defence. The pair worked together and won Serie A with Inter two seasons ago.

Bastoni, a lifelong Inter fan, reportedly need convincing to leave the San Siro but on Tuesday reports in Italy claimed Spurs had made a breakthrough in talks. At the same time interest from United and Chelsea came to light.

Talking for the first time about his future since, Bastoni said: "I have a two-year contract with Inter, so I’m very calm. The club hasn’t communicated anything to me, so I’m very calm.

"I think about Italy then I go on vacation and then I resume at the Appiano [Inter training ground]."

Bastoni is expected to cost around £54million and would play on the left-hand side of a defensive three. It would prove a near-club-record deal for Spurs.

Spurs have already signed Ivan Perisic from Inter, on a free transfer. Goalkeeper Fraser Forster is expected to follow suit in the coming days.
