Tottenham star Ivan Perisic included in Croatia's Qatar World Cup squad amid position confusion

Ivan Perisic has been included in Croatia's World Cup squad. The Tottenham star will join up with the likes of Real Madrid's Luka Modric and Chelsea's Mateo Kovacic as the 2016 finalists aim to make another deep run in the competition.

As a stalwart of his country, Perisic's inclusion is unsurprising. However, he has been listed as a forward despite playing most of his football in north London as a left-wing back.

If he plays well in a more advanced role in Qatar, it could serve as a solid reminder to Antonio Conte that he's a suitable forward option in the future.

Elsewhere, several more of Tottenham's stars are starting to learn whether or not they will be heading to Qatar as their respective countries confirm their World Cup squads. Most of the 32 teams participating in the winter tournament are expected to name their squads this week, while some have already been announced.

As captains of their countries, Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris and Son Heung-Min - despite his recent eye surgery - would expect to be named, whilst Richarlison and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg have already made the Brazil and Denmark sides respectively.

Rodrigo Bentancur could be going to his fourth international tournament with Uruguay, while Ben Davies and on-loan Spurs defender Joe Rodon will likely appear for Wales.
