Tottenham set for major financial boost after green light for more non-football events at stadium

Tottenham’s finances are set to be handed a major boost after the club was given permission to host 30 major non-football events a year at their stadium.

The decision, which is subject to a S106 agreement, was passed by Haringey Council on Thursday.

It means the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium can now increase the number of events not involving Spurs, such as concerts, rugby, boxing and NFL.

In their latest set of financial results, Spurs announced increased revenue of £549.6million, up 24 per cent from the previous year’s figures of £444m, as the club broke the half-a-billion barrier for the first time.

A key reason for that was an increase in commercial revenues, which rose from £183.5m in 2022 to £227.7m last year.

“Our turnover has exceeded half a billion pounds for the first time,” read chairman Daniel Levy’s statement accompanying Tottenham’s most recent accounts.

“Whilst UEFA monies contributed, this has also been driven by increased stadium revenues from both football and non-football events and additional revenue streams.

“This is the impact of our multi-use stadium and what our Board has been focussed on delivering in order to invest in our football in a financially sustainable manner. The absolute priority for our Club is to deliver on-pitch success.”

Tottenham’s new ground has hosted major events in the past and is the official home of the NFL in the UK, staging eight regular season games to date as part of a long-term partnership through 2029-30.

They have also staged European and domestic rugby finals, world heavyweight championship boxing and concerts for the likes of Beyonce, Lady Gaga, P!NK and Travis Scott.

Their new agreement will allow them to host 30 events across the year and comes after extensive consultation with local residents and businesses.

As part of Spurs’ application, the club made a series of commitments in response to resident and business feedback. Tottenham will maintain its community ticket scheme, ensuring local residents and community organisations continue to have the opportunity to experience events at the stadium through the provision of complimentary tickets.

A 24-hour priority ticketing window will also be introduced for concerts, ensuring local residents are at the front of the queue to see world-class acts perform on their doorstep.
