Tottenham pre-season schedule in full as first Ange Postecoglou Spurs press conference date set

It will not be long at all until Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham team take to the pitch for the very first time following his appointment as head coach. Signing a four-year deal in north London at the beginning of last month, the Australian is now working with a chunk of his players at Hotspur Way.

The numbers will soon increase once Tottenham's international players have returned from their summer break, with the team then flying off to Australia at the end of next week. Having three matches on the agenda during their tour of Australia and Asia, Spurs' final friendly comes on home soil a week before the season starts.

A summer of change at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the start of a new era, it promises to be a very interesting summer for all concerned. So what exactly does Tottenham's pre-season schedule look like? football.london takes a look below.

Saturday, July 1 - The start of pre-season training

Last Saturday marked Postecoglou's first official day in the Tottenham hotseat. Getting down to work at Hotspur Way along with his new coaching team, the players not involved in international action returned to their Enfield base to begin their pre-season preparations.

Players such as Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon and Djed Spence were present after their respective loan spells away from the club last season, with Rodrigo Bentancur putting in the work as he edges back to fitness from the ACL injury he sustained at the beginning of February.

Sunday, July 9 - International players start to return

Not all players are back for the start of pre-season training at Hotspur Way at present due to the international football that was played in the middle of June. As players are allowed contractually to have 21 consecutive days of rest after their final matches they were involved in, some could start returning from July 9, with most expected on July 12.

The likes of Harry Kane, Dejan Kulusevski, Son Heung-min and Richarlison are just some of the squad who represented their respective nation last month.

Monday, July 10 - Ange Postecoglou Tottenham press conference

Postecoglou will speak to the media as Tottenham head coach for the very first time on Monday afternoon. Already conducting an interview with Spurs that went out last weekend, the Australian will be asked about a number of different topics by the assembled media.

Topics will include his first week in the Spurs hotseat, the club's transfer activity so far, strengthening in defence and Kane's future.

Friday, July 14 - Players depart for Australia

Following a good period working under Postecoglou at Hotspur Way, the squad will jet off to Perth on July 14 ahead of their first pre-season friendly. As ever, the summer tour will give a handful of youngsters the chance to make their case to the boss, with Troy Parrott, Dane Scarlett and Alfie Devine just some of those involved in training so far.

Destiny Udogie and Oliver Skipp will likely be the last of the squad to return following their participation in the European Under-21 Championship this summer with Italy and England respectively. The left-back is currently expected to decide to cut short his holidays in order to get to work under Postecoglou before the tour party departs, and Skipp, who is through to the semi-finals with the Three Lions, may well choose to shorten his holiday period as well by a few days in order to make a quicker impression on the 57-year-old.

Tuesday, July 18 - Tottenham vs West Ham

Tottenham's first pre-season game of the summer takes place at Optus Stadium, Perth, on July 18. West Ham are Spurs' opponents and it promises to be a good test for Postecoglou and his players.

The game will give Tottenham fans their first opportunity to see a Postecoglou team in action as the former Celtic boss will be busy implementing his own philosophy on the players at Hotspur Way ahead of the game. Very likely to operate in his preferred 4-3-3 setup, the head coach's team selection could well throw up a few hints over his plans for the future.

Sunday, July 23 - Tottenham vs Leicester City

Tottenham will not be in Australia for too long as their next pre-season game is in Bangkok as they face Leicester City. The encounter will see players reunited following the transfer deals between the clubs so far this summer.

James Maddison will immediately come face-to-face with his former teammates following his £40million transfer to Tottenham, with new Leicester midfielder Harry Winks also set to reunite with some familiar faces after almost a year away from Spurs following his season in Italy with Sampdoria.

Wednesday, July 26 - Tottenham vs Roma

Singapore National Stadium is the location for Tottenham's third friendly of the summer as they take on Roma. A game which sees Jose Mourinho come up against his former club, the sides actually met one year ago with the Italians coming out on top with a 1-0 win in Israel.

It will be another tough challenge for Postecoglou's side and a good opportunity for the head coach to see exactly where his side are at.

Sunday, August 6 - Tottenham vs Shakhtar Donetsk

After returning home from Singapore, Tottenham's final friendly of the summer comes at the beginning of August when they host Shakhtar Donetsk. As the Lilywhites are not at home on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, it will give Postecoglou his first chance to take charge of a match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and get used to his new surroundings.

The game could also see Manor Solomon face his former club with a move to Tottenham in the pipeline.

w/c Monday, August 7 - Final pre-season preparations

Once Tottenham's pre-season games are done and dusted, they will have a full week on the training ground to prepare for their Premier League opener away at Brentford. Ample time for Postecoglou and his coaching staff to ensure the players are in the best possible place to attack the new campaign, all will be working extremely hard and counting down the days until Postecoglou's Spurs team kick off the season across the capital at the Gtech Community Stadium.
