Tottenham players respond to Cristian Romero message after Antonio Conte outburst

Two Tottenham players have been vocal on social media in response to Cristian Romero's defence of his teammates following criticism of the team and manager after Saturday's 3-3 draw with Southampton.

After the game Antonio Conte launched into a tirade against the club as a whole and made digs towards his players too, saying: "We are 11 players that go into the pitch. I see selfish players, I see players that don't want to help each other and don't put their heart.

"Before today I prefer to hide this situation and to try to speak, to try to improve the spirit, the situation, with the words, With a lot of situations. Because about tactical or technical aspect, this is one situation. The most important thing if you want to become a strong team, if you want to become competitive, if you want to fight to win, is the desire, the fire that you need to have in your eyes , in your heart, and you have to show this in every moment. In every moment."

In a remarkable press conference after conceding twice in the final 16 minutes he continued to hit out at anyone and everyone. It has since continued to raise questions over his future with further unknowns over some of his playes too.

Argentine World Cup winner Romero has come out and fronted up though, posting on Instagram: “There are many things to improve, but we will not get tired of trying, we will get up and try again.

“I love the players of my team, I love them and my club, I know that we are going to move forward and the time and work of all together will tell us where we will go. I’ve been here for a short time, but we’re going to be together to achieve important things, more years may pass but we’ll try.”

He has has support on that from his own teammates too, with new signing and goalscorer at St Marys, Pedro Porro, writing back, "Together brother! [blue heart]"

The Spanish wing-back isn't the only one either with on-loan left-back Sergio Reguilon typing out, "Grande Cuti [red heart]."

Tottenham now have two weeks off before being back in league action in an attempt to push onto a top four finish. They face Everton at Goodison Park on April 3.
