Tottenham player ratings vs Wolves: Heung-min Son struggles as Brennan Johnson excites

Wolves scored twice in stoppage time as Tottenham ended a nightmare week with a second consecutive defeat.

Substitute Pablo Sarabia and Mario Lemina scored from close range to see off a depleted Spurs side, who led through Brennan Johnson's third-minute goal.

Spurs were missing the creativity of the injured James Maddison throughout in a concerning omen for the weeks to come.

Here's how we rated the Spurs players...

Guglielmo Vicario 7

Made a fine one-handed save to deny Lemina in the first half and commanded his area well. Not much he could do about either goal.

Pedro Porro 7

Outstanding for the opening goal, crossing for Johnson after his dummy had helped the ball into Kulusevski's path. In the absence of other players, he was an important outlet creatively.

Eric Dier 5

Made a crucial tackle on Matheus Cunha as the midfielder prepared to shoot from close-range but both goals came from midfield runners not being tracked.

Ben Davies 5

See above. Sabria and Lemina were allowed to ghost into the box for the Wolves goals. Got back to make a block on Rayan Ait-Nouri's effort when Wolves first breached the high line

Emerson Royal 6

Committed to the role of inverted full-back but often stretched defensively.

Yves Bissouma 6

A first-half yellow card will rule him out of the Villa game next up. Passing was crisp but played a little within himself.

Pape Matar Sarr 6

Started the move leading to the goal and was a willing runner. Struggled to influence the game, though, and hooked on the hour for Bentancur.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg 7

Relished the battle and saw plenty of the ball. Was involved in Spurs' best move of the second half, a slick piece of one-touch play ending in Johnson's shot. But he's no James Maddison, clearly.

Dejan Kulusevski 7

Helped to make the opening goal with a cute flick into Porro's path and worked tirelessly up and down the right flank.

Brennan Johnson 7

Excellent for the goal, darting to the near post ahead of two defenders and had Spurs' best chance of the second half, an audacious dink which sailed wide.

Heung-min Son 5

Missing the service for long periods but struggled to get into the game or hold up the ball effectively.

Subs

Rodrigo Bentancur (Sarr 63') 7

A calming influence for the final half-hour and his awareness led to a late chance for Lo Celso to make the game safe.

Bryan Gil (Johnson 75') 6

Got stuck in and produced a few nice touches.

Giovani Lo Celso (Bissouma 75') 7

Nearly clinched the game with a stinging effort, which drew a fine save from Jose Sa. A lively showing from a player who will need to step up while Maddison is out.
