Hugo Lloris
The World Cup winner may feel he could have done better for Marcus Edwards' brilliant goal as he was at full stretch but he just couldn't get a hand to it. Had very little to do throughout but was there when called upon in the final 15 minutes with a couple of saves as Sporting pushed on for a second. 7
Cristian Romero
Recovering from his injury to take his place in the team once again, he backed off Edwards so much which allowed the Sporting CP man to get his shot away on goal for the opener. Was very advanced at times after the break and showed plenty of will and desire to help Spurs going forward. 6
Eric Dier
Nowhere to be seen for the first goal after coming out to win the ball and not doing so. Did go close to an equaliser not long after the restart but his volley was saved by Antonio Adan, with the player inches away three times with headers in the closing stages. He really should have won the game for Spurs. 5

Ben Davies
Up against Edwards and had his hands full at times but did ok on the whole. Subbed off late on. 6
Matt Doherty
Got the nod at right wing-back in place of Emerson Royal but did very little of note in his time on the pitch. Went close with a low effort seconds before he made way. 5
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
Back in the team and was left on the floor by Edwards for the opener as he tried to tackle him. Was off his game in the first half but a driving run from midfield did spark the team into life. So much better after the restart. 7
Rodrigo Bentancur
Went on a positive run into the box that resulted in Dier testing Adan at the start of the second half which seemed to help lift Spurs. Was in the right place to nod home Ivan Perisic's corner to set up a tense finale. Another good showing. 8
Ivan Perisic
Restored to the team but just didn't have an impact in the final third until he picked Doherty out at the back post. Key to the equaliser with his corner right on the money for Bentancur to head in. Another cross in did lead to Harry Kane's goal before it was disallowed. 6
Lucas Moura
Named in the starting XI for the very first time this season and was an outlet in the final third to begin with his clever moment. However, you could tell he'd not started in a long time with his touch rather rusty. 5
Harry Kane
Linked up well with Son Heung-min to play Lucas in with a precise through ball early on but the chances just weren't there for him. Did net in the dying seconds with a well-taken strike only for VAR to cruelly rule it out for offside. 6
Son Heung-min
Had a shot on goal just prior to half-time but it was comfortable for Adan, before testing the shot-stopper before the hour mark with a good effort. 6
Substitutes
Bryan Gil (Matt Doherty, 70)
Looked sharp when he came on and tried to make things happen with some positive runs that troubled the visitors. Impressive performance. 7
Clement Lenglet (Ben Davies, 80)
Not much to do defensively with Tottenham pushing on. 5
Emerson Royal (Lucas Moura, 80)
Wasted some good chances down the right when more quality was needed. Had an assist ruled out after Kane's goal was ruled out. 5
