Tottenham player ratings vs Crystal Palace: Harry Kane scores as Romero, Porro and Emerson shine

Fraser Forster

In the first half he only had one low comfortable save to make from Olise. Made another low take from Doucoure's effort on the hour mark but he had little else to do. Picked up a yellow card late on for a scuffle with Zaha. 6

Emerson Royal

Straight back into the line-up on his return from his knee surgery and this was a Royal performance fitting for the day. Playing at times on the right of a back three and sometimes as a right-back with the fluid system and he often got the better of Zaha down the flank. 8

Cristian Romero

Clattered a header against the crossbar in the first half from Porro's corner. Sent a great ball into the path of Son's run in the second half. Defensively he made some important blocks and worked well in the centre of defence, controlling his aggression. This is the dominant Romero the Argentine World Cup winner has the potential to be and he helped lead the defence. 9

Clement Lenglet

Made an important early sliding tackle in the Spurs box to deny Schlupp as he ran through. Defended well before going off with what looked like a dislocated shoulder. 8

Ben Davies

A busy role on the left of a back four when Tottenham were out of possession but then became a wing-back when the hosts had the ball. Made plenty of important interceptions down the left hand-side as Spurs kept their first clean sheet since early February. 8

Pedro Porro

Sent in the corner that Romero thudded against the crossbar and then delivered a perfect cross for Kane to head home before the break. Had a deflected shot tipped over after the hour mark. Worked hard when he came back as well in a really good display and his set pieces were often dangerous. 8

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Sent an effort wide after a one-two with Kane in the first half. His usual industrious self in the centre of the pitch without adding much going forward. 7

Oliver Skipp

Played with a head bandage after needing stitches to his head wound suffered at Liverpool via Jota's boot but it didn't stop him from battling away throughout. 7

Son Heung-min

Struggled to make an impact in the first half but made a vital headed interception 10 minutes into the second period to stop Olise getting through on goal. Romero then picked him out on the run and he was denied by Johnstone as he tried to round the goalkeeper. 7

Harry Kane

Broke the first half stalemate right before the break with a header home at the back post from Pedro Porro's pinpoint cross after his own sweeping pass sent the Spaniard away. That made it 26 Premier League goals this season for the prolific striker from 35 matches and meant he overtook Wayne Rooney as the Premier League's second-highest ever goalscorer on 209 goals. Not only that but he became the first player ever to score 10 headed goals in a Premier League season and the only player to net 100 goals in both home and away games in the league. Linked the play but didn't have much service. Still managed to decide the game. 8

Richarlison

Worked hard and like Son did a lot of defensive work, including one lovely bit of skill to get the ball past Ayew. Struggled to have much of an impact at the other end of the pitch. 6

Subs

Dejan Kulusevski

Came on for Richarlison but didn't have much of an impact. 5

Eric Dier

Replaced Lenglet for the final moments and helped keep the clean sheet. N/A

Arnaut Danjuma

Came on for Son late on and used his energy high up the pitch. N/A
