Tottenham player ratings vs Brentford: Harry Kane scores a wonder goal but defenders fall short

Fraser Forster

Only had three shots to deal with and two flew in the corner from Mbeumo before Wissa dinked an effort over him as he rushed out. 4

Ben Davies

Beaten for pace by Mbeumo for Brentford's second goal and Brentford targeted that side of the pitch. 4

Clement Lenglet

Caught out of position for Brentford's first goal and was meant to be the experienced head in what was an unconvincing display from the whole defence. 5

Davinson Sanchez

Some shaky moments and was beaten a couple of times in the first half, most notably by Schade who he almost brought down as he fell. 4

Emerson Royal

Saw his header headed off the line by Henry in the first half. Did most of what was asked of him before coming off with 15 minutes to go. Probably Spurs' best defender on the day but that's not saying much. 6

Yves Bissouma

Looked more like his old self in the 4-2-3-1 system and was excellent in the first half but faded understandably in the second period in his first Premier League start since New Year's Day. 7

Oliver Skipp

Won the free-kick Kane scored from early in the game. Put in an energetic shift but made a big mess of his control late on and gifted Brentford with the ball and it was worked to Wissa to score. 5

Son Heung-min

Had a shot saved early on after Kane put him away and put in a couple of pinpoint crosses for Emerson and Danjuma. Was a real livewire in the first half but, like most of the team, was very quiet from the break until the final stages of the second period. 6

Dejan Kulusevski

Playing in his favoured number 10 role he looked bright and it was his backheel to Kane to tee up that wonderful opening goal. Also teed up Son for a chance but was very quiet after the break other than creating an opportunity for Kane. 6

Arnaut Danjuma

Plenty of energy and headed just wide from Son's cross before the break. Came off after the hour mark having run out of energy and after taking a knock. 5

Harry Kane

His 28th Premier League goal of the season was a wonderful curling effort after Kulusevski's back heel from the free-kick. He set up a chance for Son but he was also quiet in the second half with the rest of the attack. 7

Subs

Lucas Moura

Making his final appearance in a Spurs shirt at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but unfortunately he offered very little. 4

Pedro Porro

Had a late effort blocked in front of the Brentford goal. 4

Richarlison

Went twice with two late headers, both saved by Raya. 5

Ivan Perisic

Replaced Davies in the final minutes but couldn't impact the game. N/A
