Tottenham player ratings vs Aston Villa: Romero, Porro and Richarlison struggle as Kane scores

Fraser Forster

Couldn't do much about Ramsey's close range finish but he saved well from Bailey after the half hour mark. Will feel he should have got a stronger hand to Luiz's free-kick in the second half as he could only palm it into his own net. 5

Emerson Royal

Solid enough again on the right of the back four/three without the need to venture too far forward due to Porro's presence. 5

Cristian Romero

Went flying in in the build-up to Villa's opener and left himself out of position. Made a good tackle in the box on Ramsey early in the second half. Made the late tackle that handed Villa the free-kick Luiz scored from and another late lunge earned him a yellow card. Last week he was excellent, today he was back to reckless. 3

Clement Lenglet

Did little wrong on the left of defence and was one of Spurs' better defenders on the day. 6

Ben Davies

Not a lot got down the left-hand side but he offered very little going forward when the 3-4-3 in possession needed him to. 4

Pedro Porro

Couldn't get close enough to Ramsey to prevent him scoring early on. Made a number of loose passes, particularly in the second half. Improved in the second half but that's not saying much. Didn't contribute enough going forward to warrant his place as a winger. 3

Oliver Skipp

Also contributed some loose passes in the first half. Picked up a yellow card for shirt pulling. Not the best day at the office for the young midfielder. 4

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Set up a big chance early in the second half for Kane with his pressing. Made an important run back late in the game to intercept the ball but he and Skipp are just too similar for their partnership to really work without a creative midfielder alongside them. 5

Son Heung-min

Rounded the keeper only to hit the post in the first half but was flagged offside. Had the ball in the net late on but again the flag was raised. Looked to be the man to beat Villa's high line but he was flagged offside four times and just couldn't find a way through. 4

Richarlison

Made barely any impact on the match as Villa's high line stifled him and he didn't have the pace to run past it. 3

Harry Kane

Had a huge chance to level the game early in the second half but hit it down the middle at Martinez. Brought down by the keeper late on and scored from the resulting penalty which bumps up his score on a day when he struggled to make things happen and that big chance squandered came at a key time. 6

Subs

Dejan Kulusevski

Came on and soon had a chance after running into the box and curling an effort just past the left-hand post. Fired another effort over and had far more of an impact than Richarlison. 6

Yves Bissouma

Brought energy to the midfield in his first game time since February and looked bright. 6

Arnaut Danjuma

Looked to get into the box but was unable to see much of the ball after coming on. N/A

Ivan Perisic

Came on after the penalty and tried to get some balls into the box. N/A
