Tottenham player ratings: Kulusevski and Reguilon struggle as Kane and Son fail to ignite

Hugo Lloris

He had little to do in the Tottenham goal other than a routine save to stop Dunk's header before finding himself beaten at close range by Trossard's poked shot. 6

Cristian Romero

He made a couple of important headers in the Tottenham box but got himself in a tangle after making a tackle before Brighton's late goal. 6

Eric Dier

A couple of slow moments in and around the Spurs box, including being turned far too easily by Trossard to give the Brighton man space to score his goal. 5

Ben Davies

Took a whack to the face from Mwepu's boot in the first half and, early in the second period, got tackled on the edge of his own box, needing Emerson to bail him out with a tackle in the box. He offered very little going forward. 5

Emerson Royal

The same issues continue for the Brazilian when trying to get forward, but he did make an important challenge on Bissouma in the Spurs box just before the hour mark. 5

Rodrigo Bentancur

Picked up a first-half yellow and gave away the ball a couple of times. He sent a shot wide early in the second half but came off with around 20 minutes without really having as much impact as he can. 5

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

The better of the two central midfielders on the day, he showed some good feet to drill a ball across the face of goal in the second half that nobody could prod home. Often frustrated, and showed it, about the lack of movement ahead of him. 7

Sergio Reguilon

Offered very little down the left-hand side, and Conte might just be tempted to bring Sessegnon back into the starting line-up for the trip to Brentford. 4

Dejan Kulusevski

The other January signing also struggled to live up to the heights of recent performances. A very quiet display, and perhaps fortunate to get away with a yellow card for a frustrated fling of the elbow at Cucurella. He came off after 64 minutes for Lucas. 4

Harry Kane

He couldn't impose himself on proceedings after recent superb displays. He struggled for opportunities to score and create chances for others other than a late flick-on from which Bergwijn should have scored. 5

Son Heung-min

Struggled to make an impact in the first half but had a volley deflected wide early in the second before coming off late on for Bergwijn. 5

Subs

Lucas Moura

Came off the bench, ran about a bit, offered nothing. 4

Harry Winks

Brought on to bring some fresh impetus to the midfield, but he didn't. 4

Steven Bergwijn

Had a big chance straight after Brighton's goal but sliced it wide. 4
