Tottenham player injury doubt for first friendly after training absence as one star ruled out

Tottenham's pre-season tour of South Korea is brought to you in association with Nord VPN, sponsors of football.london's coverage.

Summer signing Ivan Perisic will not be available for Tottenham's first pre-season friendly of the summer against Team K League on Wednesday. Joining from Inter Milan at the start of June, the Croatian international is currently working his way back to fitness after sustaining a calf injury in his final game for the Nerazzurri.

The 33-year-old was with the rest of his Tottenham teammates for their open training session in South Korea on Monday but he only took part in the fitness work as he continues to recover from the injury issue. Perisic is still in the final stages of his fitness work before he can get back to ball work.

With Perisic definitely out, there are question marks over whether Dejan Kulusevski will be available for the game at Seoul World Cup Stadium. The Swede trained with the team on Monday but left the session early to what looked like a precaution with a small calf problem before the players took part in a match drill.

football.london understands Kulusevski wasn't involved in training on Tuesday and is now a doubt for the match against Team K League. Spurs aren't short of options in attack but Conte will want his player available as soon as possible as he plans for the new campaign.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference in Seoul, the Italian explained that he is looking to give all the players who have travelled at least 45 minutes in their opening friendly.

"Tomorrow in the game, my target is to give all the players at least 45 minutes because we are working very well and I think all the players deserve to play at least one half," said the 52-year-old.

He added: "It’s a pleasure for me and the team and the club to stay here. We started the pre-season one week ago and now we are continuing to work here. We are enjoying our time in Korea, and we are preparing for tomorrow's game. We know very well that it will be a good test for us.

"We are working a lot in these days on our idea of football and the tactical aspect and the physical aspect. I hope to see tomorrow during the game what we are trying to do in these days with the players and the team."
