Tottenham news: Why Son Heung-min is 'very sad' amid huge Rodrigo Bentancur injury blow

Your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Monday, February 13.

Son Heung-min 'very sad'

Son Heung-min said he felt "very sad" after Tottenham were thrashed 4-1 by Leicester on Saturday.

Speaking to Match of the Day, the forward said: “We started quite well and created chances. After it was 1-1 we conceded a quick second goal and then it was open. It was a difficult game then. Leicester were so clinical, they almost scored every chance. It’s a very disappointing result.

“I think it’s very sad. We knew it was going to be a really hard game. In the Premier League it’s never an easy game. It showed the Premier League has a high level. I don’t know what I can say, it’s very disappointing.

"I don’t think [it was complacency]. We came with a good feeling after beating City. The first minute we were really on it. We should be ready and learn something. Today should be a big lesson for us."

Bentancur injury blow

Tottenham star Rodrigo Bentancur is set to miss the remainder of the season after suffering an ACL injury in the Premier League defeat to Leicester. The midfielder came off worse in a clash with Nampalys Mendy and immediately fell to the ground in severe pain.

As first reported by Uruguayan journalist @Buysan on Twitter, the 25-year-old will be out for six months which means his 2022/23 season is over. Bentancur now joins Yves Bissouma, Hugo Lloris and Ryan Sessegnon on the injury list with Antonio Conte losing three key first-team players in less than a week.

David Raya price revealed

Spurs are one of a number of Premier League clubs monitoring Brentford star David Raya who could soon depart the Bees with his contract up in 2024. Raya has already rejected two new contract offers from his current club and has previously hinted at his desire to play European football.

The 27-year-old has been one Brentford's best performers this season making a number of crucial saves to help Thomas Frank's side consistently remain in the top half of the Premier League table. On Saturday, Raya made six saves to help the Bees secure an unlikely point at Emirates Stadium against league leaders Arsenal.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal vs Brentford on Saturday, Frank insisted clubs would need to pay "at least £40million if not more" to purchase Raya in the summer.
