Spurs tipped to sign Romelu Lukaku
The future of Harry Kane is once again being questioned as the striker's fine run of form continued against Aston Villa on Saturday, with Manchester United linked with a summer move. Now, Darren Bent has suggested that Spurs should move for Antonio Conte's former Inter Milan ace Romelu Lukaku if Kane does move on.
Bent told talkSPORT : "As long as Antonio Conte is there, I don't think Harry Kane will be going anywhere. Looks like he is getting the best out of him and there is a real mutual respect there, you have to say. But if the worst came to the worst and Harry Kane did go elsewhere, if they could get [Romelu] Lukaku... we've seen what he's done under Conte, he got the best out of him."
Manchester United and Tottenham to fight for free agent
West Brom and England goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is set to become a free agent at the end of the season and there will be no shortage of suitors for the shot-stopper. As per Sky Sports News, Manchester United and Tottenham are both interested in landing the 29-year-old.
Pierluigi Gollini is set to return to Atalanta at the end of the season after being brought in on a season-long loan in the summer by Nuno Espirito Santo. It will leave a place in Conte's first-team squad for a backup goalkeeper and, having impressed in the Premier League for Albion in the past, it is easy to see why a free transfer for Johnstone appeals.
Robinson makes Luis Diaz claim
Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson has claimed that the form of Dejan Kulusevski is positive his old club can take after missing out on the signing of Luis Diaz to Liverpool. Spurs opened negotiations for the Porto winger only for the deal to be hijacked by the Reds, leading Conte to Kulusevski as a result.
“It was a big blow missing out on Luis Diaz but it shows where the club is,” he told Football Insider . “They are trying to compete with the likes of Liverpool in the transfer market but can’t. Liverpool have Champions League football and are challenging for every major trophy. They will lose out on players like Diaz if a club like Liverpool is in the race as well.
“The silver lining is Kulusevski. He has been nothing short of phenomenal since he has come in. His work rate off the ball as well as his work rate on the ball has impressed me. His delivery is brilliant off the right-hand side. Kulusevski and [Rodrigo] Bentancur’s impact is a credit to Fabio Paratici and Conte really. They weren’t big names. They have proven to be top-level players though.”
