Tottenham news: 'Next Rafael van der Vaart' eyed after Sir Alex Ferguson recommendation

Tottenham Hotspur could sign the 'next Rafael van der Vaart' during the summer transfer window.

Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn has been likened to the former Spurs ace by Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp, and Antonio Conte is rumoured to be interested in signing the midfielder. The Tottenham boss reportedly wants to add more options to his squad in the middle of the park and the club see McGinn as the ideal signing.

It comes after former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was left frustrated at the Old Trafford outfit's inability to sign the Scotland international. And Spurs' stance on a summer move for Paulo Dybala has been revealed.

'Next van der Vaart' eyed

Spurs are interested in signing Aston Villa's John McGinn this summer.

The midfielder is highly rated, with Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp once comparing him to former Spurs player Rafael van der Vaart, according to football.london. "John McGinn has been the most impressive player on the pitch – he’s the man. The finish reminds me of you, Rafa [Rafael van der Vaart]," Redknapp admitted on the opening weekend of the 2019/20 season when Spurs beat Villa 3-1.

And Spurs are now said to be keen on signing the midfielder.

Spurs to to heed Sir Alex 's advice

Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson may be left rather frustrated should Tottenham prove successful in their bid to sign John McGinn.

The former United chief is said to have been keen for the midfielder to join his former side before he went to Villa in 2018. The Old Trafford outfit reportedly made an enquiry in the January transfer window but didn't follow it up.

And if Spurs now sign the midfielder, they'd be heeding the advice of Sir Alex that Manchester United failed to follow.

Dybala stance revealed

Spurs are not considering entering the race to sign Paulo Dybala this summer, it has been repoted.

The Juventus striker is set to leave the Turin club when his contract expires in the summer having regularly been linked with a move to Spurs. But, according to football.london, Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici are not currently planning on putting in an offer for the Argentinian.

Tottenham's managing director of football, Fabio Paratici, is said to be undecided about the striker's suitability for Antonio Conte's plans. Paratici was in charge of transfers at Juventus when Spurs enquired about the forward in 2019, and is believed to have wanted to move the striker on.
