Tottenham news: Manuel Ugarte agent teases summer transfer as Dejan Kulusevski stance revealed

Your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest on Saturday, May 13.

Kulusevski stance revealed

Tottenham expect Dejan Kulusevski to still be a Spurs player next season, football.london understands, despite reports from Italy that the Sweden international will be returning to Juventus this summer. Signed on an 18-month loan from the Italian giants in January 2022 worth €10million (£8.7million), the deal Spurs struck with the Bianconeri contained two different agreements for the club to make the move permanent.

Kulusevski's deal would become permanent if certain sporting goals were achieved in the 2022/23 season, including qualification for Champions League football for the following campaign, with Spurs then having the option to sign him even if the agreed objectives were not met.

In both cases, the deal is equal to €35million (£30.5million) which is payable over five financial years. Kulusevski knows his performances have not been good enough in recent months and he is determined to bounce back and hit top form for Tottenham once again.

Agent teases Ugarte move

A whole host of players have been linked with a switch, with one of those being Sporting CP midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who has impressed for the Portuguese side. Spurs aren't alone in their admiration though as Liverpool are also reported to have been showing interest, with their need for a midfield rework in the coming months.

Ugarte's agent, Jorge Chijane, has hardly extinguished any discussions surrounding a move either, claiming something will be sorted in the next 15 days. He said, as quoted by the Mirror: "Liverpool? There is a lot of talk, but they are not the only club, there are others.

"There is a lot of talk, but I am still not sure about the club [he will sign with]. There are many possibilities on the table. I believe that in 15 days the situation will be resolved. It's almost certain that he won't stay [at Sporting], it's sure he'll leave. Soon I'll be [with him] in Lisbon."

Nagelsmann blow

Julian Nagelsmann is not being considered for the current Tottenham head coach vacancy as Daniel Levy looks to find Antonio Conte's long-term successor, football.london understands. Following the Italian's departure at the end of March, a number of managers have been linked with the hotseat at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, including Nagelsmann.

Amid plenty of speculation about the German moving to N17 following his Bayern Munich exit, Tottenham have insisted that they have not met with the 35-year-old and they do not intend to.

There is plenty of respect for Nagelsmann within the north London club but he is not being seen as the one for Tottenham right now as they look to find the head coach to take the club forward.
