Tottenham news: Ivan Perisic 'to leave Spurs' amid Ange Postecoglou's Harry Kane admission

Your morning Tottenham Hotspur digest on Friday, July 7.

Perisic links

Tottenham wingback Ivan Perisic is keen to return to Croatia and play for Hajduk Split, according to transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio.

Writing on Twitter, Di Marzio said: "Ivan #Perisic is close to returning to Croatia with @hajduk. He should terminate his contract with @SpursOfficial soon in order to complete the move. #THFC @SkySport."

Postecoglou on Kane and Son

New Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has spoken about his hope for Harry Kane and Son Heung-min to frequently find the back of the net next season.

During a Q&A with Tottenham fans, Postecoglou said: "Hopefully Harry and Sonny score bags of goals and they're not the only ones. It's still the bit of the game I love the most. There's no such thing as an ugly goal. Every single time that ball crosses the line, the emotion that that brings to people I love. It's still the best part of the game for me, how the goals go in, just the joy that it brings.

"It unites people, it unites strangers. It doesn't matter who you're stood next to, when that ball crosses that line you're hugging them. So hopefully the boys score bags of goals but they're not the only ones."

Poyet's advice

Former Spurs star Gus Poyet has urged his old side to strengthen in defence during the summer transfer window.

“The system will be very important, and I don’t know if they will play with four or five at the back", Poyet told 888sport. "In terms of quality, Maddison will bring plenty and I think it’s time for him to make the step up to being a consistent and important player in an important team.

“Next season, if Tottenham play with a back four I would like to be able to know the back four for certain every week, with no questions over any of the positions. When you know your back four for certain that is when you are at your best because you’re solid. The rest of the team are the ones taking the headlines, but the base of the team is the goalkeeper and the back four, and I want to see Tottenham be solid there.”
