Tottenham news: Cristian Romero sends message to Lionel Messi as Sofyan Amrabat transfer eyed

Your morning Tottenham Hotspur digest on Tuesday, December 20.

Romero's Messi message

Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero will be returning to north London a world champion after Argentina beat France 4-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw was the result from 120 minutes of football.

Romero seems to be well-respected in the Argentina dressing room with Lionel Messi making a huge claim on his impact in the Copa American win in the Netflix documentary Sean Eternos: Campeones de America saying: "Cuti's appearance was extraordinary for us, for the future of the team and for that moment."

The relationship between Messi and Romero is clearly strong and following Argentina's dramatic win on penalties the duo were captured by Teledeporte sharing a heartfelt hug on the pitch, with Romero sending his national team captain an emotional message.

The former Serie A duo were not getting a significant look in for the Italian giants but have now become crucial first-team players and as the January window approaches, Fabio Paratici could pull of another impressive transfer swoop of a player from his home country currently out of favour.
