Tottenham news: Arsenal enter Nicolo Zaniolo race as Neymar 'sends £26,000' to Richarlison

Your morning Tottenham Hotspur digest on Saturday, December 17.

FIFA make major transfer rule change that can save Tottenham millions

Some of the most powerful men in the game are agents, with perhaps the most famous being Cristiano Ronaldo's own agent Jorge Mendes. In charge of getting the best deal for the player, taking part in negotiations and also demanding a sum of their own, agents have been increasingly seen in a negative light.

In the new regulations, which have been in the pipeline for a while, dual representation - of a club and a player involved in a deal - is now banned, and commission caps will be imposed, potentially saving Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham millions of pounds in fees. Those costs will be a thing of the past though, with the new laws stating there will be "A 10 per cent cap on what agents representing buying clubs and players being signed can receive from a transfer."

Other rules include: "Limitations on what those acting on behalf of selling clubs could also make from deals; A curb on the rewards to family members who are not licensed intermediaries; Establishing a clearing-house through which all transfer payments must pass."

Arsenal pursue Nicolo Zaniolo deal but face Tottenham obstacle

Arsenal have two chances to sign Roma and Italy star Nicolo Zaniolo who was close to making the move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over the summer, according to reports. The 23-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the season with his current deal at Roma expiring in six months.

Italian outlet Radio Radio claims there have been no talks over a renewal to the contract in recent months. The club's president Dan Friedkin is still weighing up whether to walk away from talks with the player or accept Zaniolo's demands for a significant increase in salary.

The report also claims Arsenal are interested in Zaniolo and could sign him for a bargain fee of around £21.8million (€25million) between now and the end of the season. The Gunners could also wait and sign the player on a free transfer when his contract expires in July, with Edu putting in the groundwork ahead of the end of the campaign and agreeing a pre-contract agreement with the Italian playmaker.

Spurs would no doubt be in the mix to contact Zaniolo's representatives and become an obstacle in any deal Arsenal may look to agree. The 23-year-old can play as a central midfielder or on the wing, making him a valuable asset to any squad with the potential to develop into a world-class player.

Neymar 'sends £26,000' to Tottenham star Richarlison to remove his face from Brazil back tattoo

Tottenham star Richarlison was a huge hit for Brazil during the World Cup in Qatar after scoring twice in their opening Group G fixture against Serbia. The Spurs summer signing marked his impressive campaign in the Middle East with a huge tattoo on his back which features himself, Neymar and Ronaldo Nazario.

Neymar has sent his compatriot £26,000 to get his face removed from the tattoo, according to Globo Sport. Richarlison has now returned to England ahead of the resumption of the Premier League on Boxing Day.

The Spurs forward is set to be out of action for at least a month after suffering a hamstring injury whilst away with Brazil in Qatar. After getting injured in the warm-up, the striker played on through the pain against Croatia - lasting 84 minutes before being replaced by Pedro with the Selecao eventually being knocked out after a shock penalty shootout defeat.
