Tottenham news: Antonio Conte targets key backroom appointment as Everton set Richarlison deadline

Antonio Conte is hoping to follow in the footsteps of north London rivals Arsenal by bringing a new role to his backroom team at Tottenham Hotspur.

Mikel Arteta hired the Gunners' first-ever set-piece specialist in 2020 when he brought in former Brentford coach Andreas Georgson, with Conte now keen to do the same for Spurs. While the Tottenham boss is thought to have a name in mind for the role, any agreement appears to be some way off.

It comes as Everton have reportedly set a very tight deadline for Spurs to agree a fee with them for star forward Richarlison. And the Brazilian striker seems to have said his goodbyes to the Toffees as he responded to a young fan being upset at his impending departure.

Here are Mirror Football's latest Tottenham Hotspur headlines.

Conte targets new appointment

Antonio Conte wants to improve his Tottenham team off the pitch as well as on it this summer.

The Italian has already seen his club bring in the likes of Yves Bissouma, Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic to improve the strength and depth of his squad ahead of next season. And Conte also wants to make improvements to his side's set-pieces with the appointment of a specialist coach to help his players work on them.

The club are now said to be in 'advanced talks' with former Italian national team set-piece specialist Gianni Vio, but any agreement is not thought to be 'imminent'.

According to football.london, Everton want to have everything in place by July 1 in order to beat the financial fair play deadline. The Toffees are facing issues around financial fair play but could avoid getting into hot water by offloading their star forward.

It means the move could be pushed through in the coming hours with the Brazilian set to seal his blockbuster switch to north London.

Richarlison sends farewell message

The Brazilian is now Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici's number one target to improve Spurs' attacking line and provide more support for Harry Kane. And, per football.london, the forward has sent a message to one young fan on social media who has become quite upset about his impending departure.

After a fan tweeted a photo of the crying youngster saying they'd just explained about the striker's potential move, Richarlison replied: "Stay happy my friend."
