Tottenham news: Antonio Conte's ruthless transfer decision as summer exodus begins

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has reportedly put nine of the club's players up for sale as he begins work to trim his squad ahead of the new season.

Spurs have been active in the summer transfer market, bringing in the likes of Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet and Djed Spence. But in order to balance the books, players will need to leave and Conte is now ready to wield the axe and trim his squad down.

It comes as the summer transfer exodus has begun with two players moving out on loan for the season. And Bryan Gil may get his chance in the Tottenham squad in the Premier League opening day game against Southampton thanks to an FA decision.

Have your say! Who do you think Tottenham Hotspur need to get rid of before the end of the summer transfer window? Let us know what you think in the comments below

Conte's ruthless transfer decision

Antonio Conte is reportedly ready to ruthlessly cut his Tottenham Hotspur squad with up to nine players set to leave.

The Spurs boss is keen to press on with new additions to his squad after qualifying for next season's Champions League. But players will also need to depart and it has been reported that nine players could be set for the exit.

Among those leaving could be Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso, Harry Winks, Sergio Reguilon, Japhet Tanganga, Joe Rodon, Bryan Gil and one of Emerson Royal or Matt Doherty.

Summer exodus begins

With Spurs keen to offload players ahead of the summer transfer window closing, two players have kicked off the exodus by leaving the club on loan.

Troy Parrott and Dane Scarlett will be plying their trade in the EFL next season after securing their moves away in order to get valuable first-team experience. football.london reports that Parrott will play for Championship side Preston and Scarlett has signed for League One outfit Portsmouth.

Both players are highly-rated by Spurs, and could now begin their seasons as early as next weekend.

FA decision could hand Gil chance

Forgotten Spurs man Bryan Gil could be given a chance to impress in the Premier League season opener against Southampton.

It comes after an FA decision has left a bit of a hole in the Tottenham attack, with new signing Richarlison set to serve a one-match ban for throwing a flare into the crowd after scoring for Everton against Chelsea in May. football.london reports that means Dejan Kulusevski, Son Heung-min and Harry Kane will likely start, with Lucas Moura the only other recognised attacker in Antonio Conte's squad.

And so, while Gil has been linked with a return to Valencia following his successful loan spell during the second half of last season, he may need to stick around a little longer just in case he's needed against Southampton.
