Tottenham news: Antonio Conte responds to Mikel Arteta as Harry Kane tipped for new role

Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has spoken out against Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta's who has had a go at the Premier League over their fixture scheduling.

As the race for the top four enters the final stages, former Spurs midfielder Danny Murphy has tipped his old club to secure a UEFA Champions League spot. Tottenham are currently three points behind fourth-place Arsenal and Murphy can see the Lillywhites overtaking the Gunners for that final spot.

Much will be dependent on Harry Kane continuing to find the back of the net while also providing assists for his teammates, something ex-Premier League defender Joleon Lescott believes could prove beneficial for his future.

Conte's Arteta response

Tottenham were meant to play Arsenal in the Premier League earlier this year but the game was postponed due to a Covid-19 case in the Gunners camp.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has complained to the Premier League about recent fixture scheduling which has left his side with limited time to rest and prepare between games. And Spurs boss Antonio Conte has hit back at his rival counterpart, telling him to stop and have a think before he complains.

The fixture between the two sides has yet to be resechuled.

Murphy's top four prediction

The race for the top four is heating up and Tottenham find themselves on the outside looking in but with a great chance of leapfrogging the teams above them.

One of those sides is north London rivals Arsenal, who are currently three points ahead of the Lillywhites but the Gunners have played a game less. Should they win that game in hand, the gap extends to six points. But former Tottenham midfielder Danny Murphy believes that his old side can get overtake the Gunners.

Murphy has tipped Spurs to 'sneak' into the UEFA Champions League next season at the expense of their biggest rivals.

Kane's positional change

Harry Kane could move to Manchester United and his style of play is reminiscent of former Red Devils striker Wayne Rooney.

Kane is not only a clinical finisher in front of goal but has the ability and technique to drop deeper and link up player, similar to Rooney in his prime before he hung up his boots. Former Premier League defender Joleon Lescott believes Kane should emulate United's all-time goalscorer as it could benefit him in the long-term.

Such a decision could also benefit the Manchester club should they come calling, something Lescott can envisage happening.
