Tottenham manager news: Eintracht Frankfurt confirm Oliver Glasner will leave club in the summer

Eintracht Frankfurt have confirmed their decision to part with Oliver Glasner at the end of the season, amid links between the manager and the vacant roles at Tottenham and Chelsea.

After winning the Europa League last season, this campaign has been more turbulent for German club Frankfurt, who sit ninth in the Bundesliga and haven’t won any of their last 11 league games - depsite reaching the DfB-Pokal final.

Glasner’s contract was due to run out in the summer of 2024 but the club made the call to release him early after lengthy talks.

Board member Markus Krosche stated: “We are of the opinion that after all the speculation and turmoil that has arisen in recent weeks and months with regard to the coaching personnel, that clarity is now essential moving forward so that the coach and the team can completely focus on achieving the objectives for the season and the cup final.”

Spurs have been linked with Glasner, 48, since sacking Antonio Conte but are still whittling their way through a shortlist focused on Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique and Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are thought to be moving closer to a deal with ex-Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The coach told the Eintracht website: “I accept the decision made by the club management, which was explained to me in a clear manner.

“The talks with Markus Krosche and Timmo Hardung were honest, open and fair, just as our communication in the last few years has always been constructive and guided by a great deal of mutual respect.”
