Tottenham legend accuses Arsenal's in-form star of diving amid Harry Kane comparisons

Tottenham Hotspur legend Graham Roberts has accused Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli of diving.

The Gunners played out a hugely-entertaining 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, a match that Martinelli thrived in, especially during the first-half. The 21-year-old broke the deadlock at Anfield early on, poking the ball past Reds goalkeeper Alisson before providing a brilliant cross for teammate Gabriel Jesus, who headed home to double the away side's advantage after 28 minutes.

However, Jurgen Klopp's men eventually fought back, with Mohamed Salah halving the deficit on the cusp of half-time before Roberto Firmino netted a late equaliser for the hosts. After the match, journalist Henry Winter praised the north London outfit for the respect they showed Liverpool regarding Hillsborough commemorations.

Writing on Twitter, Henry said: "#AFC didn't win at Anfield but they won a lot of friends at #LFC for the class, dignity and respect they and their fans showed around the Hillsborough commemorations. Liverpool were moved by Arteta and Odegaard laying wreaths and Arteta and staff members wearing '97' badges..."

"... and the 3,000 #AFC fans observed the minute's silence impeccably. Given the problems in the game around tragedy chanting atm, Arsenal fans' respectful behaviour could not have been more timely (raised hands emoji) #LIVARS."

Spurs icon Roberts then replied to Winter's Tweet claiming that Martinelli had dived during the match, something that Winter had accused Lillywhite's striker Harry Kane of the week before. "@henrywinter you haven't mentioned the dove by Martinelli yesterday like you did last week with @HKane did you miss that yesterday", Roberts wrote.

Kane was on the receiving end of a red card challenge from Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure during the two sides' 1-1 draw last week. The England captain lay on the floor for some time after he was struck in the face by Doucoure, who received his marching orders in the 58th minute at Goodison Park.

Following the incident, the aforementioned Winter labelled the 28-year-old's theatrics as 'embarrassing.' "Harry Kane milked that, then stayed down", he wrote.

"Abdoulaye Doucoure was stupid, raised his left hand, deserved the red, but Kane exaggerated the contact. Embarrassing from Kane. #EVETOT."
