Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has provided an injury update on Ben Davies and Cristian Romero ahead of Sunday evening’s crucial Premier League clash against Chelsea.
Ange Postecoglou offered some hope to Tottenham fans that Cristian Romero could return in time for Chelsea’s visit in the Premier League on Sunday in his latest injury update, however there are major doubts over the availability of Ben Davies.
Wales international Davies was the latest casualty in a frustrating spell with injuries for Spurs, as he limped off with what looked to be a hamstring injury on the 62-minute mark in his side’s 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Thursday.
The North Londoners were left so short at the back that 18-year-old Archie Gray, who is typically deployed in right-back or central midfield, finished the game as a centre-back alongside Radu Dragusin.
Davies joins Romero on Tottenham’s lengthy absentee list, alongside Guglielmo Vicario (ankle), Richarlison (thigh), Micky van de Ven (thigh), Mikey Moore (illness), Rodrigo Bentancur (suspended) and Wilson Odobert (hamstring).
Tottenham Injury Update: Ben Davies To Undergo Scan
Speaking to the media on Friday morning in his pre-match press conference ahead of the weekend’s action, Postecoglou provided the latest on Davies and Romero.
“Ben [Davies] too early again [to tell], he’ll go for a scan today. Cuti [Romero] is due to train, we’re not doing much today but we’ll see how he goes tomorrow.”
The Australian was also asked how difficult it’ll be to get through the busy festive period with such a stretched squad.
“We know that, I think that is put to one side. For me the disappointment last night, there was a repeat of cycle of us going into games, starting well enough but then allowing the opposition to get a grip on it by either conceding a sloppy goal – like we did last night – or not taking our opportunities.
“We need to break that cycle, irrespective of where we are at at the moment. We know we are really thin on the ground in terms of squad numbers. We know there is not a lot of opportunity to rotate and rest players. We paid the price with Benny [Davies] last night.
“They’re known things. what also is known is we’ve repeatedly shot ourselves in the foot in games like last night and we need to change that.”
“We need to break that cycle” 🙅

Spurs head into Gameweek 15 in 10th place in the table, while Chelsea are up in second, and unsurprisingly, given the pair’s recent form, the UK’s best football betting sites are favouring the Blues to prevail in North London.
