Tottenham identify potential Fabio Paratici replacement who has links to Mauricio Pochettino

Tottenham have been handed a boost in their search for Fabio Paratici's replacement as director of football after a potential target has seemingly made himself available for the position. After initially being given a 30-month ban by the Italian FA for his senior role in former club Juventus' alleged financial mismanagement, Paratici saw that extended worldwide by FIFA on Wednesday morning.

As such, if an appeal proves unsuccessful, Paratici's Spurs tenure will come to a premature end after joining in the summer of 2021, and the club will already be monitoring replacements. This comes at a crucial time for Tottenham who are already having to appoint Antonio Conte's replacement as manager and plan for the summer transfer window.

Paratici was due to be a key figure in appointing Spurs' next head coach, but the club will now have to conduct this process in his absence, as they look to bring in someone else to take charge of footballing operations at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. One figure linked with the position has been Getafe general director Ramon Planes.

Should they wish to pursue that option, Tottenham have been handed a boost after Getafe president Angel Torres appeared to remove any obstacles of a move to north London. According to COPE, Torres "will not put any impediment" in place should Planes want a move.

Planes has been tipped by some to make the move alongside Mauricio Pochettino, who would take up the vacant managerial position following Antonio Conte's sacking last Sunday, with the pair reportedly having a strong relationship. The Argentine was sacked by Tottenham in November 2019 but has been hotly tipped for a reunion, and Planes' appointment could pave the way for the popular head coach's return.

Reports claim the Spanish director's days at current club Getafe are "numbered". He is set to depart at the end of this campaign, and will do so "without any closed offer" to move elsewhere, allowing Spurs to swoop in if they desire.

Real Betis have been linked with making the 55-year-old an offer, but there is currently nothing concrete in place. Paratici was one of a number of key officials to be given suspensions after Juventus were found guilty of false accounting.

The punishment also included a 15-point deduction for the Italian giants in January, after the Serie A side were accused of fixing their balance sheets by artificial gains from club transfers. Both Juventus and Paratici have denied the accusations and appealed the decision.

The decision to extend his ban to the rest of the world came just hours after the 50-year-old broke his silence on Conte's exit in a video posted to Tottenham's social media accounts, as he issued a rally cry to Spurs supporters. There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing during his time in north London, and Tottenham are yet to comment with it unclear when they learnt of this development.
