Tottenham icon sends Antonio Conte five word blunt message on objectives after transfer success

Antonio Conte has already had a major influence on the Tottenham side since his arrival last November. The Italian led his side to a fourth place finish, meaning return to the Champions League next season.

This summer transfer window has also been a success so far, with Spurs welcoming six new arrivals and sending two away on permanent deals. There is still time to go in the window and before the 2022/23 season starts, meaning potential for more business to be completed.

Conte has also been working his squad hard in pre-season training. The Lilywhites won one and drew one of their two matches in South Korea, with games against Rangers and Roma still to be played.

Earlier this month, Conte spoke about why he decided to stay in N17 for another year and his hopes for next season. "It was simple to continue this project because first of all, I have another year of contract. I am totally involved in this project," he admitted.

"I think we have just started this project with the club. You know very well my ambitions. I want the club to continue to improve. Last season, I think to finish in the top four was a great achievement for us, for the players, for the club, for me, for our fans, but as I said we have just started this project now.

"We need to have time and patience but at the same time it is very important to be stronger than in the past and try to be competitive because we have four competitions and we want to be competitive and have ambition. I have ambition and my players want to be ambitious, it’s the same for the club," Conte added.

Not only will the 52-year-old want to help Tottenham climb the Premier League table next season, fans will also hope Conte can be the man to end their 14-year trophy drought. The Lilywhites have been waiting to lift some silverware since 2008, falling at the final hurdle on a number of occasions.

However with the impact the new boss has already made, there seems to be growing hope that this could happen sooner rather than later. Jurgen Klinsmann spent two separate spells at Spurs, making 66 appearances, scoring 38 goals and registering 15 assists.

The 57-year-old has now given his positive verdict on his former club and what he thinks Tottenham now need: "I'm excited because it's time to win something. It might be the year. I think we've waited long enough," he told Sky Sports.

"The foundation is there now. The quality of the squad is there. The hunger of the players is there. Very well experienced coach/manager with Conte. He knows what he's doing. He's got the pieces now in place that he wanted."

All of these comments from the ex-striker are correct. The Italian has already made an impact, welcoming a total of eight new players to his squad since his arrival amid strong backing so far by those above him.

Klinsmann ended his statement with a clear message to Conte: "It's time to win now, that's all I can say."

This is likely to be a view shared by a number of Tottenham fans, who have been patiently waiting for their side to lift a trophy again. As Klinsmann said, the Italian has the foundations of a strong team and his backing this summer indicates his good relationship with those above him. Now there is just hope this can be shown on the pitch and help Spurs have a very successful 2022/23 campaign.
