Dimitar Berbatov does not believe that Vincent Kompany will become Tottenham's new head coach this summer. Currently on the lookout for a new boss following Antonio Conte's Spurs exit at the end of March, the Belgian is one of a number of managers to have been linked with the vacant hotseat.
Appointed as player-manager of Anderlecht back in 2019 after calling time on his Man City career, the 37-year-old made the move to Burnley last June and helped the Clarets return to the Premier League at the first time of asking with seven games to spare. Kompany has completely transformed Burnley in his short time at Turf Moor, with the team now playing attractive football and the team having a rather youthful look about it after some shrewd purchases in the transfer market.
Tipped for big things in his managerial career, it is no surprise to see the former centre-back mentioned with the Tottenham job given what he has achieved in less than a year in Lancashire. Despite talk of Kompany taking on the Spurs job, Berbatov believes that the Man City legend will instead decide to remain with his current club for the time being before taking on a few other jobs in the future on his way to become manager at the Etihad Stadium.

“I don’t believe he’s going to go to Tottenham. What he’s done with Burnley is a great achievement and I believe he will want to continue working with them in the Premier League next season and help them stay within it. It’s going to be a tough challenge, but I’m sure that it’s a challenge he will thrive upon," the former striker told Betfred.
“He will want to continue his development as a manager at Burnley and I’m sure in the future he will have ambitions of managing Manchester City. I believe he will continue developing his managerial skills at a few different clubs, until that opportunity presents itself. Congratulations to him with everything he’s achieved at Burnley so far.”
