Tottenham Hotspur managing director of football Fabio Paratici has resigned after unsuccessful appeal against an Italian Football Federation ban on certain football-related activities. The Italian was given a 30-month suspension from Italian football in January after his former club Juventus were found guilty of false accounting, with FIFA extending that ban to worldwide operations last month.
Paratici had stepped back from his role at the North London side, but has officially announced his resignation this morning in a club statement. It comes after Juventus' 15 point deduction - which they were given after an investigation into the club's past transfer dealings spanning two years from 2019 to 2021 - was overturned.
The Old Lady has leapt back up to third in the Serie A, having been punished in January after being found guilty of false accounting. The Spurs director has lost his appeal in the build-up to the clash with Newcastle United this weekend and is one of 11 directors at Juventus to have been were sanctioned.
Former Juventus president Andrea Agnelli, ex-chief executive Maurizio Arrivabene and sports director Federico Cherubini have also had their appeals rejected, but former player and director Pavel Nedved, Paolo Garimberti and Enrico Vellano were successful with their appeals.
Daniel Levy, Chairman: “This has been a stressful time for Fabio and his family. We wanted to ensure that we allowed for due process to be followed. Fabio is a man who lives and breathes football - we wish him well.
“As outlined in our year end results, we started several months ago to restructure our football operations and last week announced the appointment of Scott Munn as Chief Football Officer to head up all the departments. We shall continue to strengthen our football functions over the coming months.”
