Tottenham handed Alessandro Bastoni transfer boost as Inter Milan find potential replacement

The search to strengthen Antonio Conte's Tottenham team is well underway, with a list of potential targets already being outlined. Spurs finished the season on a high, securing a top four finish.

This means that the Lilywhites will be back in the Champions League next season, a boost to the club and for any potential new incomings. There has been positive news around the Tottenham camp this week, with growing confidence of Conte and Harry Kane remaining in N17.

There will need to be both incomings and outgoings during the summer transfer window in order to increase the size of the Italian's squad and add extra quality to the team he already has. One player that Fabio Paratici and Conte are thought to be a big admirers of is Alessandro Bastoni.

The 23-year-old is currently playing for Inter Milan, Conte's former team. The defender has previously sung the praises of the 52-year-old, which could be an added bonus in Spurs' hunt for a deal.

"Everyone had spoken highly of Conte and I’ve only received confirmation of how great he is. As far as I am concerned, Conte is the [Lionel] Messi of coaches," Bastoni admitted.

"He is phenomenal, has exceptional footballing ideas and always wants to go on the attack. The training schedule is very tough indeed, but so was Gian Piero Gasperini when I played for Atalanta."

The compliments for the Tottenham boss have been echoed by his current players, who have commended Conte for his impact so far. The 52-year-old has only been in north London for seven months and has already made improvements on and off the pitch.

Bastoni would be able to come to Spurs and fill in on the left of the back three, which Ben Davies has occupied, since the Italian's arrival. Davies is just one player who has seen improvement in his own performances, proving critics wrong and being a key part of Tottenham's back line.

However, there isn't really any other player who is made to play in that role, a bonus for the Welshman, but highlighting the need for Conte to solve Spurs' squad depth issue this summer. Bastoni would come in and create competition for Davies, and with the amount of games the Lilywhites will be playing next year it is likely that both defenders would get signifcant game time.

Tottenham will still need to work out a suitable deal with Inter Milan if they do want to bring Bastoni to north London, which could be difficult as football.london understands the Italian side won't accept anything less than £51 million for the defender. However, Spurs may have been handed a boost in their Bastoni pursuit.

A player who was once linked with a move to N17, Gleison Bremer, is now reportedly a key target for Inter. In March, Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin revealed that the 25-year-old had already committed himself to the Italian side for next season.

However, Inter Milan will need funds in order to buy the Torino defender, which Tottenham can help raise if the Italian side agree to a sale of Bastoni. This would seem like a good option to benefit both clubs, but only time will tell if agreements are made and both teams get the player they want.
