Mauricio Pochettino has stated that Tottenham is "my club" despite his exit from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in November 2019.
Transforming Spurs and making them Champions League regulars after their previous struggles in the league, the manager led his team to the final of Europe's premier competition in 2019 but Liverpool unfortunately came out on top in Madrid.
Struggling the following campaign with Tottenham's form incredibly patchy, Daniel Levy decided to make a managerial change and it saw Pochettino lose his job and replaced by Jose Mourinho.
Now in charge of Paris Saint-Germain and trying to lead them to Europe's top prize after going close in recent years, Pochettino, who has been linked with the Manchester United job recently, has opened up on why Tottenham will always be a "special club" for him.
"For me was an amazing journey, an amazing time. I still feel that it is my club, my place," he said when speaking to Rio Ferdinand's Between The Lines on BT Sport.
"I think when you really feel the commitment, when you feel the people give everything to try and be successful, when they treat really, really good that they treat us, I think it's impossible to forget that.
"That is why Tottenham are always going to be a special club for me."
Looking back with Ferdinand at Lucas Moura's goal from their final 2018/19 Champions League group game against Barcelona, the 50-year-old opened up on his Spurs team's style of play and their desire to win.
"I think it's amazing because I think it's an amazing Champions League," he admitted. "The way after a few years we start to play and the players stick with the idea and respecting the principles of the history of Tottenham and fanbase, I think it was amazing."
He added: "I think when you want to win big titles, you can play well or sometimes not so well. But football is about to compete. It's not the same to play good football than be good when you compete.
"For me, football is about to compete. You can play well but if you don't have this mentality and hunger that give you the capacity to go one step further, it's impossible to win.
"I think this group of players, the club and everything, we build a fantastic environment that all wanted to win. To win you need to give your best and we were giving our best."
