Tottenham fans taunt Everton boss Frank Lampard with brutal Steven Gerrard chant

Everton manager Frank Lampard was brutally mocked by Tottenham Hotspur supporters as he watched his side get dismantled by Spurs on Monday night.

The North London outfit took the lead in the 14th minute when Ryan Sessegnon’s fierce cross was turned home by Michael Keane, who couldn’t readjust his feet to avoid redirecting the ball past his goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Heung-Min Son then made it 2-0 just three minutes later when the versatile forward rounded off a neat passing move by Antonio Conte’s men and fired beneath Pickford, who should have done better.

Harry Kane then put the game to bed before the halftime break when he beat Everton ’s offside trap and tucked it home.

The Spurs faithful were in full voice after the third goal and were heard singing "you’re just a s*** Steven Gerrard" at Lampard, the legend of their London rivals Chelsea, who, understandably, did not look overly pleased with the taunts.

Gerrard has been a roaring success in the Premier League since being appointed as Aston Villa manager, most recently watching his side beat Southampton 4-0.

The former Liverpool midfielder has implemented his 4-3-3 system with great success at Villa Park and, with further investment, he will be hoping to mount a charge for a Top Six finish next season.

In contrast, Lampard will not be bearing a thought for the upcoming campaign as there is every chance that Everton could be relegated this season.

The Toffees sit just one point above the bottom three but do have two games in hand, though they will need to improve markedly if they are to capitalise on those fixtures.

With their side 5-0 up after just 55 minutes, the Spurs supporters again aimed their chants at Lampard. They were hears singing 'you're getting sacked in the morning' at the former Derby County boss, as well as 'Lampard, what's the score?'.

Lampard’s former international teammate Jamie Carragher does not think that the 43-year-old has overseen any improvement at Everton since he replaced Rafael Benitez in the Goodison Park dugout.

Carragher said: “The stats speak for themselves, there actually has not been that much change in terms of when you look at the numbers. It’s only four games, one of them being Manchester City, but when you look at them in possession they have slightly improved.

"When looking at Frank Lampard the manager, he has done this at Derby County, at Chelsea and he wants his team to press high. His home form has been good as they have won three out of four home games, he has definitely got the Evertonians on his side."

The humiliating 4-0 defeat at the hands of Spurs will certainly have severely dented the confidence of the Everton squad, and Carragher believes that their defence must take plenty of blame for the loss.

He explained: "They started okay in the first ten minutes and were putting pressure on Spurs but when you talk about a team being too good to go down, that is because you maybe look at Everton’s strikers, but this back four is a Championship back four, there is no doubt about it."

It remains to be seen whether Lampard is able to rescue Everton’s season or he will be at their helm for the club's first relegation since 1951.
