Tottenham fans send Daniel Levy transfer message on five key players amid lack of January action

The past weeks have somewhat been painful for Tottenham Hotspur, both on and off the football pitch.

Arsenal's successful North London Derby postponement rounded off a rough period of the season that also involved a Carabao Cup semi-final exit to Chelsea, coupled with Covid issues that have disrupted the already-congested schedule.

Off the pitch, Daniel Levy and co have been slow movers this month regarding incoming and outgoing business as Antonio Conte looks to rebuild the squad for years to come.

There is more talk of outgoings at this current moment, with the futures of Tanguy Ndombele and Steven Bergwijn up in the air alongside several younger players who may be seeking loan moves away to develop their careers elsewhere.

Harry Kane's future still isn't 100% nailed on and Harry Winks, who attracted vast interest from Aston Villa in the 2021 summer transfer window, could look for a new adventure come the end of the season.

Conte said on the current state of Tottenham's transfer window: "Then we'll see what will happen during this period with the transfer market. In January it's always an important period because if you can help the team, the squad then you have the opportunity in this month to try and take the best opportunity.

"I know that the transfer window in January is always very difficult and it is more simple when you start the season to buy important players. In January it is not easy, but at the same time we know very well that if there is the opportunity and also if it's not the best opportunity, but we need to do something."

The first player who Spurs fans voted on in football.london's keep or sell survey was Dutch winger Bergwijn, who has been linked for a while now with moving back to his native country.

In the survey, 6,354 (45%) wanted to see Tottenham's number 23 stay in comparison to 5,993 (43%) who wanted to see him leave and 1,621 (12%) of people who were happy for Fabio Paratici to loan out the former PSV man.

Next up is Kane and despite him being happy with the ambitious Conte appointment after Nuno Espirito Santo's sacking, it is still unknown whether he will try and push through a Man City move in 2022.

Unsurprisingly though, out of a total of 13,985 Lilywhites fans, 11,481 (82%) wanted to see their star striker stay and become a club legend while 2,383 (17%) reckon it's time for him to move on at the end of the season and 1% ironically opting for the loan option.

One area of the team that we could see change in the near future lies in the centre of defence with the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly and Milan Skriniar being admired by Conte and his coaches.

Does this mean that someone like Joe Rodon may have to be sacrificed on loan to accommodate this request?

This is certainly what the supporters believe should happen as 46% (6,457 out of 13,975) of Tottenham fans who voted in this football.london survey said the Welshmen should be loaned out to accommodate more squad space for a star signing.

A second area of the current set-up that could be altered is the centre of the pitch and Ndombele and Winks have been suggested as two players that may have to be sacrificed financially for any incoming business in the summer.

In our survey, supporters have been voting on the future of Winks and it's clear to see that people would prefer to see Ndombele sold instead of the Englishman as only 26% (3,574 out of 14,001) Tottenham fans believe that the 25-year-old needs to be shown the exit door for a supposed upgrade to come into this position.

Finally, on the future of young winger Jack Clarke, who has barely touched a ball under Conte, 48% of our sample (6,753 out of 13,944) in football.london's survey believe that he needs loan time, whilst 46% would sell him.
