Tottenham fans left Liverpool match after only 15 MINUTES as Gary Lineker made brutal joke

Tottenham fans walked out of Anfield after just 15 minutes as the North London side suffered another woeful start against Liverpool.

Ryan Mason ’s side were aiming to show a reaction to their travelling support following their 6-1 humbling at the hands of Newcastle last weekend - a game that saw fans receive refunds for their match tickets. It could not have gone worse for Spurs however as they found themselves 3-0 down within a quarter of an hour.

Curtis Jones opened the scoring after just three minutes, whilst Luis Diaz doubled the lead shortly after. A rash challenge from Cristian Romero gave Mohamed Salah a golden opportunity to make it three from the penalty spot.

The Egyptian duly accepted that chance by powering home. His successful effort triggered a number of fans to start leaving the stadium, after doing the same at St James’ Park last weekend.

That triggered a few brutal suggestions from the likes of Gary Lineker and Gary Neville. Taking to Twitter, the former wrote: “The Spurs players will need a standing order to their travelling fans at this rate.”

Appointed on commentary by Sky Sports, Neville also responded to the image of the supporters leaving Anfield with a jibe. He said: “They were leaving after 20 mins last week. Some of them are leaving after 15 this week [ Tottenham fans].

Commentator Martin Tyler said: “'They were of course offered refunds from their trip to Newcastle. Even from the players themselves,” to which Neville responded: ”I know the Spurs players are on a lot of money but they could end up actually to be fair, you may as well set up a direct debit to the fans!”

The Spurs fans that stayed fired some brutal chants towards their own players in the aftermath of Liverpool’s third including renditions of “you’re not fit to wear the shirt”, as well as “how s***t must you be, it’s only 3-0,” towards the Liverpool players.

They did eventually have something positive to cheer towards the end of the first-half though as Harry Kane got on the end of Ivan Perisic’s cross to reduce the deficit with a well-taken volley. The strike represented the England captain’s 25th Premier League goal of the season and saw him draw level with Wayne Rooney in second in the all-time scorers’ list.

Attacking colleague Heung Min-Son could have twice got on the scoresheet but both of his efforts hit the post, whilst Romero also managed to strike the upright with an acrobatic attempt. The South Korean did manage to get on the scoresheet with 15 minutes to go.

Following another dismal away display, Spurs return home next weekend as they take on Crystal Palace before rounding off their season with fixtures against Aston Villa, Brentford, Leeds and West Ham.
