Tottenham's 25-man squad for the upcoming 2023/24 season will hopefully look rather different given the big changes that need to take place in north London this summer. Having confirmed Ange Postecoglou as head coach one week ago, Spurs must now appoint a new managing director of football and make alterations to their playing squad.
A host of players need to move on for a fresh challenge elsewhere, with a new goalkeeper, centre-back and attacking midfielder just some of the changes that need to be made in regards to potential incomings. Once the summer transfer window has closed for business at 11pm on Friday, September 1, all Premier League clubs will submit their 25-man squads for the campaign.
The Premier League define a homegrown player as "a player who, irrespective of nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to The Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons, or 36 months, before his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21)".
Clubs also submit a separate under-21 list, which in turn frees up space in the 25-man playing squad. For the 2023/24 campaign, under-21 players will have had to be born on or after January 1, 2002 to make the list.
When Tottenham last submitted a 25-man squad to the Premier League back in February, they had one space still available after only naming 24 from a possible 25 players. Bryan Gil and Harvey White were not named as part of the squad regardless of their loan moves to Sevilla and Derby Country respectively, with the duo instead eligible to be included as under-21 players due to their age.

Ahead of the new season, Gil and White will no longer be able to be included as under-21 players and will now have to be named in the 25-man squad as both were born before January 1, 2002. As things stand, Gil will be one of 17 non-homegrown players at the club, leaving Spurs at the maximum amount.
However, that number will very likely go down over the coming weeks with players such as Hugo Lloris, Davinson Sanchez, Ivan Perisic, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso potentially moving on ahead of the new season. Gil remaining as one of the non-homegrown players at the club next term will all depend on Ange Postecoglou's decision over his future as he has barely played for Tottenham since his move to the club and instead spent two separate loan spells away from north London.
In terms of Tottenham's homegrown numbers, Spurs will be at 12 with White no longer able to be classed as an under-21 player. As is the case with Gil, the midfielder could very well find himself playing away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium from August onwards as he has a number of players ahead of him in the midfield pecking order.
Soon set to enter the final year of his Tottenham deal, this summer represents the perfect opportunity for Spurs to part with the academy graduate so he can get regular football under his belt elsewhere. Tottenham are currently four players over the 25-man limit with Gil and White ineligible for the under-21 list heading into an important summer for the club, which in turn leaves them plenty to do in terms of incomings and outgoings.
If they are to stick around for the 2023/24 campaign, both will be new additions to the 25-man squad list.
