Tottenham's form over the course of the 2022/23 campaign has demonstrated that so much more has to be done in the transfer market if they are to kick on as a club. Currently fourth in the Premier League table and in a good position to seal a place in the Champions League for the second year on the trot, inconsistency has once again plagued Antonio Conte's team.
Spurs really could be a lot better off in terms of points after failing to win some very winnable fixtures. The recent examples of not picking up maximum points at struggling Leicester City, Wolves and Southampton highlight that point.
The main focus at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at present is on Conte's position in the hotseat and who will be his successor going forward. As is always the case, transfers will also very much be high on the agenda as well for Tottenham fans.

A very important summer for the club, Fabio Paratici and Spurs need to get things right in the transfer market as much has been made about the struggles of last summer's additions. A number of clubs will be keeping tabs on what happens towards the bottom of the Premier League table as there could be some very good options available come the summer months with many needing to move their top players on.
So are there any players currently at the relegation-threatened clubs in the Premier League that could help bolster and improve the Spurs squad going into 2023/24? football.london takes a look below.
Goalkeepers
One area Tottenham do need to take a serious look at in the summer is the goalkeeping department. Spurs must find a new long-term No.1 shot-stopper as Hugo Lloris is nearing the end of his career and he has also made some high-profile errors this term.
Everton's Jordan Pickford has been linked with the club in the past and he could be a serious option to move for if the Toffees' stay in the top flight comes to an end in May. If Sean Dyche's men do stay up, however, England's No.1 would come at some cost as he last month penned a new four-and-a-half year contract until June 2027.
Leeds United's Illan Meslier could be another goalkeeper Tottenham consider. The 23-year-old Frenchman has made a huge impression since the West Yorkshire club's promotion to the Premier League back in 2020 and he's at the age where he could quite easily play for the club for well over a decade.
Defenders
Tottenham certainly need to upgrade their options at centre-back if there is to be a big improvement in north London. As Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga could quite easily move on and Clement Lenglet's long-term future remains up in the air, Paratici and Co. need to look at making a couple of defensive acquisitions.
football.london have reported in the past that the club really like Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. Regardless of what happens with the Eagles come May, there will no doubt be plenty of interest in the England international this summer after wowing at Selhurst Park.
Max Kilman, who has established himself as an automatic starter in the Wolves side over the past couple of seasons, will undoubtedly also be linked with a move away, with West Ham's Nayef Aguerd, who has been mentioned regarding a switch to Liverpool recently, will also be in the same boat after making an impression in his first year in the Premier League.
Illya Zabarnyi could also be available if Bournemouth return to the Championship at the first time of asking. The Ukrainian international was linked with a move to Tottenham before he headed to the Vitality Stadium in January.
Midfielders
Tottenham are well stocked in midfield after adding Yves Bissouma to the ranks last summer and also following Pape Matar Sarr's return to the club from his loan spell at Metz. Despite the midfield numbers at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Paratici may want to add some more quality to the middle of the park.
Wolves duo Ruben Neves and Mattheus Nunes will be in high demand going on the West Midlands club's struggles this season and could quite easily move on. In the East Midlands, two of Leicester City's players will likely find themselves at new clubs come August.
Youri Tielemans will be available on a free transfer unless there is a late twist in the tale and he commits his long-term future to the Foxes. James Maddison is the other player in question as he will soon be entering the final year of his deal at the King Power Stadium.
A player who could give Tottenham some more quality in the final third and also from set-pieces, Maddison would still cost a sizeable sum but certainly not as much as if he was to have another year or two on his current deal. James Ward-Prowse's set-piece prowess would be most welcome at Spurs, with Southampton teammate Romeo Lavia one for the future after earning rave reviews following his summer switch to St Mary's.
Forwards
Lucas Moura's exit, Arnaut Danjuma's return to Villarreal following his loan spell and the uncertainty surrounding Bryan Gil's future means that Tottenham must look at boosting their attack in the summer. Crystal Palace have three exciting attacking options that will be in demand if their poor run of form continues and they finish the season in the bottom three.
Wilfried Zaha will be available on a free transfer and would bring experience and quality to the squad, with Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise two very impressive players who have so much more still to offer in their young careers. Leeds United's Wilfried Gnonto has wowed in his first year in the Premier League and will have many suitors after him in the summer even if Leeds stay up, with Leicester City's Harvey Barnes another who will not be short of options if the Foxes drop.
Paratici and Tottenham are well aware of Brennan Johnson after seeing him in action last season when keeping tabs on Djed Spence when he was on loan at Nottingham Forest. The attacker looks right at home in the Premier League and has so far contributed with nine goals and two assists in 33 appearances in all competitions.
