Tottenham at the World Cup today: Ivan Perisic in action, Josko Gvardiol scouting mission

Day four of the World Cup is upon us and there's plenty for Tottenham Hotspur fans to look forward to.

Four games are set to be played on Wednesday as nations in both Group E and Group F get their campaigns underway. Morocco take on Croatia to begin with, before Germany play Japan in Doha. Spain then face Costa Rica ahead of Belgium and Canada later on in the evening.

Several of Spurs' players and transfer targets have already been in action in the tournament, with the likes of Harry Kane already making a mark on the competition. That trend is set to continue today too, as more global stars look to get off to winning starts out in Qatar.

With that in mind, football.london takes a look at the names you need to keep an eye on at the World Cup today.

Ivan Perisic (Croatia)

The only Tottenham player in action on Wednesday is Perisic. The Croatian is a stalwart in his national side's team, having played a huge part in their run to the World Cup final four years ago. He'll be looking to make a similar impact this time around, starting with three points against Morocco.

Marcelo Brozovic (Croatia)

Brozovic was on Tottenham's radar earlier this year but a move never materialised, with Spurs bringing in Juventus' Rodrigo Bentancur to bolster their options in the middle of the park. The Croatian ended up extending his stay at Inter Milan until June 2026, meaning a January deal is unlikely, but having played under Antonio Conte during their title winning season in 2020/21, he could be tempted by a potential reunion.

Josko Gvardiol (Croatia)

Gvardiol was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer, but a switch failed to materialise after penning a five-year deal with RB Leipzig.

That being said, the new contract looks to have been a ploy to earn a greater fee for one of Europe's leading young centre-backs. Spurs face competition for the Croatia international's services, with London rivals Chelsea believed to be one of the teams interested.
