Tottenham and Manchester United already laying down markers as Newcastle United resurgence begins

Newcastle United fans aren't used to this. Heading into a Premier League season full of hope and expectation? It may take some getting used to on Tyneside.

Gone are the days of finishing 17th and exiting the cup before things get interesting. This time around supporters are already publicly expressing their desire for United to trouble the top eight, or even the big six, in the next 12 months.

If that is to be the case, the Magpies are going to need a lot of work on the training ground, a big improvement on the pitch and a bit of luck. It will be a huge ask to disrupt those at the top end in the first full post-takeover season.
