THE Tory Party deputy chairman has told anti-monarchy protesters arrested during the King’s Coronation to “emigrate”.
Lee Anderson, the MP for Ashfield, was reacting to an article on Twitter reporting on how anti-monarchy “Not my King” protestors had been arrested by police on Saturday morning.
Just after 7am, footage of anti-monarchy group Republic chief executive Graham Smith was posted on Twitter which showed him among the demonstrators apprehended on St Martin’s Lane near Trafalgar Square.
In one video an officer said: “I’m not going to get into a conversation about that, they are under arrest, end of.”
Just Stop Oil told the PA news agency approximately 13 protesters were arrested on the Mall ahead of the coronation.
A spokeswoman for the campaign group said five demonstrators were also arrested at Downing Street and one at Piccadilly.

Campaign groups slammed the arrests but Lee Anderson took a different view. He tweeted: “Not My King?
“If you do not wish to live in a country that has a monarchy the solution is not to turn up with your silly boards.
“The solution is to emigrate.”
