Tory MP who gave Boris protesters the middle finger is made education minister

A BREXITEER Tory MP has been made an education minister just one day after she gave Downing Street protesters the middle finger.

Andrea Jenkyns was unmissable outside Number 10 during Johnson’s resignation speech, as she showed her support for the Prime Minister while wearing a neon yellow dress.

As the Morley and Outwood MP made her way into Downing Street to see Johnson speak, she didn’t hide what she thought about the group heckling the Prime Minister from the gates.

A number of people had gathered to boo, shout and sing “Bye Bye Boris” as he confirmed his intent to leave Number 10 by the autumn.

Jenkyns appeared to tell the crowd: “Those who laugh last laugh loudest.”

The deputy chair of the European Research Group then gave the group the middle finger before going through the security gates.

The Johnson loyalist will now serve as parliamentary under-secretary of state at the Department for Education.

Labour's Bridget Phillipson tweeted: "Ministers aren’t expected to be perfect. But is it really too much to ask that they don’t treat the public like this?"

Jenkyns is not the only Johnson loyalist to have been added to his Cabinet as he plots to stay in place as a caretaker PM for many more months.

Peter Bone, a long serving Tory MP who called the idea of same-sex marriage “completely nuts”, has been appointed deputy leader of the House serving under Mark Spencer.

Pete Wishart, the SNP’s shadow leader of the House, told The National: "I knew he was going to fill his cabinet with weirdos and oddballs, but it's quite extraordinary.”

He described the appointments as a "desperate last-gasp effort to keep the show on the road".
